Ingratitude

Two days late but there's still time to say: stop thanking me for my service.

Your thanks are a paltry, contemptible substitute for your own service deficit. You watched a world pass you by: Vietnam, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, Haiti, Bosnia, Kossovo, Somalia, Iraq I, 9/11, Iraq II, Afghanistan, what have you. You proved to the whole world by your actions that there is nothing that could ever happen that would induce you to join an armed service.

And you want to thank me, calling attention to your own deficit.

Please, next Veteran's Day, avert your eyes, keep quiet, and make yourself as inconspicuous as possible. That will be my thanks.
